Peggy McGaugh Must Be Removed From Office for Undermining the Will of the People
Whether you support minimum wage laws or not, one thing is clear: the people of Missouri spoke loud and clear at the ballot box when they voted to raise the minimum wage. That wasn’t a poll. It wasn’t a committee. It was a statewide election — a clear expression of the people’s will in a functioning democracy.
And yet, Peggy McGaugh, who claims to be a conservative, voted to override that vote, essentially sending a message to ALL OF US constituents – our will is of no value.
This kind of legislative sabotage is not only anti-democratic — it’s two-faced and dangerously authoritarian. You can’t call yourself a conservative while actively using government power to undo the will of the people. That’s not conservatism. That’s fascism wrapped in a flag, and just plain un-American.
I personally don’t support mandated minimum wages — I believe in free markets and that supply & demand drive factors like wages just like it does for food, or other commodities. But what I believe more than anything is this: If the people vote, their decision must be respected. Otherwise, we don’t have a republic. We have a ruling class — and Peggy McGaugh has clearly chosen to side with that class, not the people she was elected to serve.
This kind of double-dealing from so-called conservatives is exactly why faith in government is collapsing. You don’t get to run on “freedom” and “local control” — and then override a public vote because it doesn’t align with your ideology or your donor base.
Peggy McGaugh has shown that her allegiance isn’t to you, the voter — it’s to power and political convenience. And for that reason alone, she must be removed from office.
If you believe in:
- The sanctity of elections
- The voice of the people
- The limits of government authority
Then you must also believe that Peggy McGaugh has betrayed her oath and has no place in public office.
